Trust in the Lord- Richard G. Scott

This week's article is interesting; I came across it while studying another talk that referenced it. The talk is entitled "Trust in the Lord,"given by Elder Richard G. Scott of the quorum of the twelve apostles during the April 1989 General Conference. Elder Scott was called to be an apostle of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 4 October 1986.

I don't really have anything to say about this talk; it's unique and very very good. My favorite part is the few paragraphs about righteous character. I do know that the principles and lessons taught in this talk are true and the Lord loves us and desires our happiness. He reaches our reaching, He is patient with our faults and mistakes, and His atonement enables us to both succeed and be happy. Just read it, let me know your thoughts and feelings, and apostle of the Lord said it.

  2. I really enjoyed this talk. I liked how he presented these fundamental ideas- we will always have the Lord on our side if we are striving for righteous character, and then he reminds us how to have and maintain that strong righteous character. I also really appreciated that he addresses anyone that is suffering, whether of their own choices or the effects of choices those around them are making, and reminds them that there is hope. For the sinner, it's never too late to turn around. For those doing what they know is right and things still aren't going well, answers will come, serve in the meantime.
There are some challenges we just don't understand, and for those, Elder Scott provides the scripture. Trust in the Lord. It's a lot easier said than done, but that trust will be enough. I love that.

Along the same lines of challenges we don’t understand and building a solid righteous character, Elder Holland offered “The Convenient Messiah” (Ensign Feb. 1984). Also fantastic.
